the 1st of August 2003 by one person
frustrated by the lack of sanctuary
spaces. Eventually joined by a handful
of people The Hope is now run and
financed by this small group.
Meet The Hope Team

Our Patron is Mary Ellen Borque.

No dog is ever euthanized at The HOPE to make room for another,
we keep our dogs with no time limits until they are fostered or
adopted into caring, responsible, loving homes.

RESCUES

The Hope prevents and rescues animals from unecessary cruelty and
neglect. Rescue operations can occur at any time and requires
patience as many of the animals are often distressed. We have
established feeding/ watering stations which need to be monitored on
a daily basis.

REHABILITATION
Some of the abused and abandoned dogs we rescue often require
physical and/ or psychiatric treatment. The treatments are
necessary to prepare these dogs for their new homes and a better
life.

REHOMING
We wish to decrease the huge number of dogs that are euthanized.
The dogs in our rehoming programme are strays, owner surrenders
or emergency rescues. These abandoned dogs make wonderful pets
when given the opportunity to have a loving place to call home.

EDUCATE
Building an understanding about the devastating conditions some
animals have to endure every day, is our attempt to eliminate the
endless cases of animal cruelty. This is one of our best defenses in
helping to bring down the increasing population of neglected, abused,
abandoned or euthanized dogs in Barbados.

With the introduction of the Hope-Martin neutering bus and Humane
Education programme launch, The Hope's goal is to spay or neuter
pets to avoid unwanted litters that will end up living under inhumane
conditions or destroyed.

We want to teach adults and children how to have a responsible,
lifetime commitment to animals.
