It's A Dog's Life - A Hope Sanctuary Fundraiser

May 23 , 2008

On Sunday March the 9th 2008, The Hope Sanctuary held ‘It’s a Dog’s Life’ (Sing for your Supper) fundraiser at The Cock’s Inn
Bar in Rockley, Christ Church. Veronica Little (aka Ronnie) of ‘Media Market’ offered us her marketing and promotional services
to singlehandedly organise this event. Husband and wife team Graham and Wall, who own and run the Cock’s Inn, a new English
themed bar, have adopted two dogs from The Hope, Barney and Fred, support the Hope and offered us their establishment for
the event.

The day was promoted around live music performances held in the beer garden. Roadhouse, the popular Barbadian rock band,
were the main attraction supported by renowned Irish singer Ricky Barr. The day included refreshments, BBQ, a raffle and an
auction. Local business owners kindly donated their goods and services to be sold, won or auctioned – from a sandwich maker
to dinner for two at Café Luna.

Graham created us our own rum cocktail ‘Hair of the Dog’ which sold at $5 a glass. For a $10 entrance fee, a total of 257
persons purchased tickets. Inclusive of Hope associates, near to 300 people attended. We sold on average 230 raffle tickets and
made Bds $1,420.00 via the auction. With the book sale and donation boxes, in total, we made Bds $4,883.50 All proceeds went
to The Hope Sanctuary. Ronnie hosted the proceedings and members of The Hope Team volunteered to make this a truly
successful and fantastic fun day out for all.

From The Hope Sanctuary, its dogs and cats, we would like to thank all of those which made this event possible. A personal
thank you to Ronnie, The Cock’s Inn, all those who volunteered their time, everyone that donated goods or services and of
course – those of you who came and supported us. We would also like to thank Select Magazine for again including The Hope in
its monthly publication. It costs on average $10,000 to run The Hope Sanctuary for one month ($4000 in dog food alone) – the
money this fundraiser raised will assist us to continue to fight the cause.

Ways in which ‘YOU’ can help The Hope Sanctuary raise funds:
- Sponsor an event
- Donate goods or services for sale or auction
- Display a donation box at your business
