The Hope Sanctuary is funded entirely by voluntary contributions. Leaving a gift to The Hope
Sanctuary in your Will is one of the most significant and meaningful ways to show your support.
When you donate money to The Hope Sanctuary you know that you are making an immediate
difference to the life of an abused, neglected or abandoned animal. It's a wonderful way to ensure that
we can continue our vital work, and can also be a valuable way of reducing inheritance-tax liability on
your estate, because legacies to a registered charity are tax-free.

When you remember The Hope Sanctuary in your will, you are ensuring that you continue to support
our cause beyond your lifetime.

Ways to leave a gift

You can leave a share of your estate (Residuary Gift)
This is the gift of the whole or part of your estate, i.e. what is left when all other gifts and liabilities
have been paid. A residuary gift is especially valuable to The Hope Sanctuary because of the growing
value of your assets protects it against inflation.

You can leave a fixed sum of money (Pecuniary Gift)
This is the gift of a specific sum of money. When making this kind of gift, please bear in mind that you
may need to alter your Will periodically to keep it in line with inflation.

You can leave a specific item of value (Gift in Kind)
This is the gift of a specific item, which can be sold to benefit the work of The Hope Sanctuary. It could
be property, shares, or an item of value such as an antique or piece of jewelry. If intending to do this
please contact us first.

If you wish to leave a gift to The Hope Sanctuary, the wording we suggest you include in
your Will is as follows:
‘I give (description of gift) to The Hope Sanctuary, of P.O. Box 1015, Bridgetown, Barbados,
West Indies (Registered Charity No.590), for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the
receipt of the duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge.’

Every gift, however large or small, is a real investment in a future where dogs and cats in Barbados
are given the chance of living a happy, healthy life”.

Sanctuary in your memory, it is a good idea to let your executors know of your wishes or to
include it in the details about your funeral.
